IPK London.uk ICOM and ICOM UK Icom do something that no other radio manufacturer does, Keep their radio’s simple to use, Icom’s IC 7300 HF radio and IC 9700 VHF/UHF Radio are almost like operating the same radio, there are only a few differencies between them. Then you have the IC 7610 HF Radio with very similar features, then on top of that there is the IC-R8600 Receiver, again with those very same features, further to that they have anounced the ultimate QRP radio in the IC 705, just about to be released in the UK with those very same features and very same touchscreen simplicity. Once again it looks like Icom are on a winner, if the IC 705 radio wasn’t enough for the QRP individual the backpack they’ve produced to go with it (at extra cost, but worth it) is absolutely awesome, it’s got everything you could need for a great field days operation. value for money rig? I bet it is. As we have all of this Covid-19 going on at present it is not possible to say when these will hit the UK stockists, as they say “Watch this space” Even the quality of the Icom Airband and Marineband radio’s is something else, I checked over one of their Marineband radio’s at a shop in Burnham On Crouch, Essex, I must admit compared to the likes of Cobra (who also make nice Marine radio’s) you really could see and feel the quality of the Icom gear. Icom are present at many shows up and down the country, if you’re at a show or a rally they are attending go over and have a chat, they’re extremely helpful guys. I would love to visit Icom in Herne Bay sometime soon to see how they do things down there, being a former warehouse manger I guess I would find it extremely interesting. I’d like to get my hands on a ID-51 handheld to try, I’ve always wanted to compare it with a Kenwood TH D74E (that I already own) and maybe make a video showing the differences between them, could be good.

As this website is HAM based I should say that Icom do all sorts of other radio equipment too, not just Amateur Radio and it’s quality items too. Their range of Marine Radio’s have great quality in build, usability and audio. I have never used an Airband radio of theirs but I am sure the same will apply. Click the links below to enter their radio world for an exceptional radio experience, believe me, if you want a marine or airband radio you really cannot go wrong with Icom.
Icom UK Review
Icom UK are based in Herne Bay in Kent, The text below is from their own website on their About page. Originally established in 1974 as Thanet Electronics, Icom UK Ltd started as a retailer and trade distributor to the Amateur radio market. The company has now become one of the country's leading distributors of radio communications products and has built a reputation for providing the marine, aviation, Amateur and two way radio business markets with high quality products and excellent service. Based in Herne Bay, Icom UK Ltd, now employs 30 staff and has an established dealer network, with more than 1,000 accounts both in the UK and overseas. I am hoping to go there for a visit soon but that rather depends on this Covid stuff that is going on at the moment.

that very same ease of use and very familiar
touchscreen as in the other radio’s.
Once again it looks
like Icom are on a winner, if the IC 705
wasn’t awesome
enough
for you the backback is ultra special
and it looks like they’ve thought of just about
everything
for the ultimate field days operating.
Even the quality of their Airband and
Marineband is
something
else I checked over one of their
